Someone should be watching the risk.

Hawk Thorne is an independent risk and market intelligence desk. We publish our reading of the market every trading day, and we are building Aegis, a risk system that reads a portfolio's exposure so its owner doesn't have to.

Why Aegis exists

Not every market deserves your capital.

Aegis was built for people who know that survival comes before the next signal.

Most market tools answer the question: what should I buy? Aegis starts somewhere else. It asks what could threaten what you already hold, whether an exposure has earned its place, and when doing nothing is the more disciplined decision.

We built it after a mistake that should not have happened: a position was open, risk was building, and the warning came too late. Since then the rule has been simple: every exposure must earn permission. Aegis does not sell signals and does not decide for you. It speaks up when risk deserves attention.

What we build

Two products. One discipline.

One product records how the desk reads the market. The other watches the portfolio risk behind it. Same discipline: survive first, then act only when the evidence earns it.

Insights

Market research, published daily

Insights is the desk in writing: macro, equities, FX & rates and commodities, with the reasoning, the risks to the thesis and the public record kept after publication.

  • Morning Update before the European open
  • Week Ahead every Sunday
  • Dated theses kept on the public record

AEGIS

Asset Exposure Governance Intelligence System

AEGIS is the Asset Exposure Governance Intelligence System: the portfolio risk watch we are building from the same discipline. It reads exposure, concentration, regime and relevant market change, then warns in plain language when your holdings deserve attention.

  • Exposure and concentration kept current
  • Warnings when risk changes, not trade signals
  • A focused portal for positions, risk and context

How Aegis works

It watches. It warns. You decide.

01

It watches

Aegis reads your portfolio's exposure and concentration, and the market around it, and is built to keep that read current.

02

It warns

When something shifts in a way that matters to what you hold, Aegis tells you in plain language. It informs and warns. It does not tell you what to trade.

03

You see it

A private portal shows your portfolio the way a risk desk would: a few focused views of what you own, not a terminal wall of charts.

01

Kairos

Narrative analysis

Reads how market narratives form and evolve, including policymakers' words in context.

02

Talos

Risk engine

Quantifies the exposure, stress and concentration across a portfolio.

03

Loom

Quantitative analysis

Maps how the key instruments move and correlate: yields, indices, commodities.

What you get

Four questions Aegis keeps in view.

Aegis is built to reduce the work of deciding what deserves attention today. It does not create a wall of charts; it narrows the review.

01

Where am I concentrated?

Exposure views show which positions have started behaving like one trade.

02

What changed today?

Relevant market changes are mapped back to the holdings they may affect.

03

What should I review?

Instead of a buy-or-sell signal, you get the places in the portfolio that deserve a second look.

04

When should I not trade?

Regime risk, concentration and stress can all be reasons to pause before adding exposure.

Hawk Thorne Insights

The desk behind Aegis, in writing.

The same desk that builds Aegis writes down its market reading twice a day: what moved, why it moved, and what would prove the reading wrong. The commentary is free. The full reports are a subscription.

Week Ahead

Each Sunday: the calendar and the questions that frame the week.

A public record

Every thesis dated, kept, and tested in the next note. Nothing edited after the fact.

Aegis

Before you ask.

What does “managed access” mean?
Aegis is in a private preview, opened to a small number of clients at a time. You leave your details, we respond personally, and together we establish whether Aegis fits the way you invest. No self-serve signup, no card, no obligation.
What does Aegis need to know about my portfolio?
A read-only picture of the holdings you choose to share, enough to measure exposure and concentration. Aegis never has trading access and never takes custody of anything.
Will Aegis tell me what to buy or sell?
No. Aegis informs and warns: it tells you what changed and why it matters to what you hold. Nothing it sends is investment advice or a recommendation. The decisions, and the responsibility for them, remain yours.
What will I actually see?
Plain-language notes when something matters, and a private portal with a few focused views of what you own: your exposure, your concentrations, your risk. Not a terminal wall of charts.
